Whitney Houston has won many pop grammy awards. But for the first time (and only time), in 2000, she won an R&B grammy for my favorite song by her entitled "It's Not Right But It's Okay." This uptempo song greatly appealed to her urban fanbase and I am proud to have the original re-mix cd for this song in my music collection. The Thunderpuss remix of this has mad flava and was jammed heavily on the radio airwaves in 1999/2000 as well as in dance clubs. I felt that Whitney Houston brought some raw realness to the song and her vocal deliverance of it is simply brilliant. Verse 1 Friday night you and your boys went out to eat. Initially featured as the B-Side of "Heartbreak Hotel," it became the album's third single and peaked at #4 on the US Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart on July 3, 1999. It was #1 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart, peaked at #7 on the top 100 Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart, and was certified Gold by the RIAA. The music video was directed by Kevin Bray. Houston won the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for this song. The song reached #3 in the United Kingdom in March 1999 and stayed in the chart for 15 weeks, while also being a hugely popular radio hit there.
